The Abortion Abolitionist, the American Government, and the Evangelical Church in America [Back to the Homepage]

March 1, 2004 -- It is clear from the present state of affairs in America that the Evangelical church in America is largely apathetic regarding the murder of the unborn. This is not just my observation, it has been noted by others in the Body of Christ as well.
Why the silence? Why the failure to resist a Holocaust that surpasses the Nazi horrors of WW II? My own experience in speaking and witnessing to other members of the Body of Christ is that fear and illusions regarding the American Government are blinding believers from taking any action to defend the unborn. The fear of man will always bring a snare to the fearful (Proverbs 29:25), but why the illusions regarding the moral and lawful authority of the present American Government?
Removing the Illusions
The current American Government is the best that money can buy-as can be seen in the vast amounts of money required to run for office. Corporate scandals like Enron also remind us of the links between corporate wealth and political power. But what no Christian should overlook is that in making the infamous Roe v. Wade decision of 1973, a pagan judiciary determined that womb children were not deserving of legal protection and thus not deserving of the right to life. This illegal decision voided the 14th Amendment protection for babies living in a mother’s womb-NO COURT ON EARTH HAS THE RIGHT TO LEGITIMIZE THE MURDER OF THE CHILDREN THAT GOD HAS CREATED. ANY GOVERNMENT OR OFFICIAL THAT UPHOLDS THIS TRAVESTY MUST BE RESISTED VIGOROUSLY, ESPECIALLY BY THOSE WHO PURPORT TO BE FOLLOWERS OF THE ONE WHO SAID: " Even so, it is NOT the will of your Father in heaven that one of these little ones should perish" (Matthew 18:14). Those nominal Christians who hide behind Romans 13 are ignoring the Lord Himself, who told us that no man could serve two masters (Matt. 6:24) and to render unto God the things that are God’s (Matt. 22:21). ARE WE NOW CONCEDING TO THE GOVERNMENT THE RIGHT TO SAY WHAT CLASS OF CITIZENS LIVES AND WHICH DIES? The true disciples of Jesus Christ will divide the Word of God correctly and take Acts 5:29 to heart-obeying God rather than men and having no King but Jesus. They will "dare to be a Daniel" and not bow down before the golden idol of the "law."
Even worse, the ludicrous placing of faith placed in purported Christians like Bush and Ashcroft shows how deeply this fear and illusion have set in. The only thing noteworthy Bush has done as President is to allow the evil practice of stem cell (read: cannibalism) research to continue. It is pathetic that Christians fall all over themselves, groveling for crumbs, when Bush talks about ending partial-birth abortion. WHAT ABOUT ALL THE OTHER MURDERS BEING COMMITTED THAT HIS ADMINISTRATION IS DOING NOTHING ABOUT?
In the case of John Ashcroft, his allegiance to Caesar and betrayal of Christ is blatantly obvious for all who have eyes to see: he issues injunctions curtailing free speech at the abortuaries and allows men of God who even pray there to be arrested. http://www.usnewswire.com/topnews/qtr1_2003/0206-106.html. Lastly, Christians should ask themselves: if this Administration is truly a friend of the unborn, why does it not attempt to repeal the "FACE" act of 1994 which was enacted to protect the baby killers from the protests of those who would defend the unborn? The answer is that this government and administration have no legitimacy in the eyes of a HOLY GOD WHO SEES AND HEARS THE SILENT SCREAMS OF THE UNBORN AND WILL SURELY JUDGE AMERICA FOR THIS SLAUGHTER OF THE INNOCENTS.
The Absolute Necessity of Action by the Evangelical Church
Having unmasked this American government for what it is-an accessory to the murders of millions of children-what can the true disciples of Jesus Christ do with this realization?
They can fight the good fight of faith: (1 Timothy 6:12)
Lastly I hope that all of us are open to new forms of protest in WHATEVER MANNER WE ARE LEAD BY THE HOLY SPIRIT---NOT ALL OF US HAVE THE GRACES OR CONVICTION OF A JIM KOPP OR PAUL HILL at any or all given times-but we can certainly support them and their families, honor their heroic acts, and pray that our God will raise up more defenders of the unborn. As Dennis Malvasi noted in his speech to the White Rose banquet in 2001, defenders of the unborn need quartermasters and encouragement.
