Rev. Paul Schenck Departs From The Faith  [Back to the Homepage]

March 22, 2004 - By way of an announcement posted at the Priests for Life website: we have learned that long time pro-life activist, author, and Pastor, Rev. Paul Schenck has joined the Roman Catholic Church on 2/29/04. In doing so he has followed in the footsteps of men like Scott Hahn, who experienced a similar spiritual meltdown some 12-odd years ago. These departures from the faith once delivered unto the saints (Jude 3) should not shake those of us grounded in the Word of God - they were prophesied long ago.

"Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils; speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron." - 1 Timothy 4:1,2

Paul Schenck stated that among the reasons for his conversion was the "desire for unity with Rome and the consistency and uniformity of doctrine it offers."

Being gradually seduced over a period of years by his ecumenical activities with Catholic priests like Frank Pavone, [no relation to this author] he failed to recognize the church of Rome for what it really is. Not being grounded and settled in the Word of God, Schenck has turned aside to follow the heresies of Romanism and has exchanged:

• The authority of the infallible Word of God - for the errors of Popes and the commandments of men.
• The worship of the One True God - for the idolatry of the Roman wafer-god, the "Eucharist".
• The honor that belongs to Christ alone as the one Mediator between God and Man (1 Tim 2:5 and Col. 3:17) - for the Mary-worship the Roman church is saturated and polluted with.
• The gospel of salvation by grace through faith - for a damnable lie of works and sacramental salvation.
• The freedom of the gospel - for the marketing of a mythological place called "purgatory" and indulgences.

One revealing statement by Schenck is that he prayed to a Catholic "Saint" to guide him in his search for spiritual truth. This attempting to contact a dead person, by itself, opened him up to demonic influence and is expressly forbidden by the Scripture - i.e. necromancy. (Deut. 18:10,11)

How foolish to be bewitched by a church that is drunk with the blood of Christians (Rev. 17) and that tried and failed to stop the Protestant Reformation by murdering thousands of Bible believers! How blind not to see a church exposed by its homosexual and pedophile-riddled clergy! The one book Schenck does not mention reading is Foxe's Book of Martyrs! In turning aside to follow the Papal Antichrist, men like Paul Schenck and Scott Hahn are exposed by the Word of God:

"Little children, it is the last time: and as ye have heard that antichrist shall come, even now are there many antichrists; whereby we know that it is the last time. They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would no doubt have continued with us: but they went out, that they might be made manifest that they were not all of us." - 1 John 2:18,19

All Bible-believing Christians should heed and obey the Word of God as their supreme authority, not joining in ecumenical activities with unbelievers:

"Do not be unequally yoked together with unbelievers; for what fellowship does righteousness have with lawlessness? And what partnership does light have with darkness? And what agreement does Christ have with Belial? Or what part does a believer have with an unbeliever? And what agreement does a temple of God have with idols? For you are the temple of the living God, as God has said, "I will dwell in them and walk among them ; and I will be their God, and they shall be My people." Therefore come out from among them and be separated, says the Lord, and do not touch the unclean thing . And I will receive you and I will be a Father to you, and you shall be My sons and daughters, says the Lord Almighty." - 2 Cor. 6:14-18

LET THIS BE A WARNING TO CHRISTIANS - THERE CAN BE NO REAL UNITY AT THE EXPENSE OF THE TRUTH OF THE WORD OF GOD-AND NO UNITY WITH THE CHURCH OF ROME, WHICH IS A FALSE CHURCH.

Let me close with the encouraging testimony of a mighty man of God, John Calvin:

I deny him to be the vicar of Christ... He is antichrist-I deny him to be head of the church. - John Calvin, cited from John Calvin Tracts, vol. 1, pp. 219, 220

The papal "antichrist will be annihilated by the Word of the Lord . . . Paul does not think the Christ will accomplish this in a moment . . . Christ will scatter the darkness . . . before His coming" by "the preaching of this doctrine." For "we fight by Christ's power, and are armed with God's weapons . . . We are victorious . . .
