THE IMPORTANCE OF SOUND DOCTRINE [Return to Main Links Page]
"that we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive;" - Ephesians 4:14
"But speak thou the things which become sound doctrine" - Titus 2:1
The importance of sound doctrine cannot be overemphasized in a day and age of rampant heresies-or in any age. The Word of God urges us to hold onto sound doctrine as to an anchor in a stormy sea. False doctrines abound today; chief among them is that man must "decide" for or against Christ. The Scriptures in fact teach that we are "dead in trespasses and sins" (see Eph. 2:1-10) and that it is by the mercy of God that He has chosen an elect people unto Himself for His praise and eternal glory. It is essential in my view that every believer has as his bedrock the Biblical truths of salvation-the doctrines of election and predestination. Going on to the study of Covenant Theology will also be a great comfort and revelation of the nature of our Triune God. The following links contain a wealth of sound teaching on these truths. Let the heretics like David Cloud and Dave Hunt bray on against the sovereignty of God- and let the elect of God apply Romans 16:17 to such men.
